Evoke Fine Art Boudoir – Styling Guide

MOST loved lingerie pieces along with tips!!
Hey Gorgeous! Magan here with Evoke. I wanted to create this guide to help people shop and prepare for their Boudoir session. I have styled and photographed a ton of women – all shapes and sizes, for their boudoir sessions. The most important advice I can give anyone is this: Try things on and LOOK-IN-THE-MIRROR! – Hell, even do a little dance, my personal goal is to make sure whatever I’m trying on is “twerkable”. Okuuuuur 😉

If you need help…

Let’s start out with the basics. Have you ever tried to look something up on the internet but, you have no idea what it’s called? Here is a little cheat sheet below to help you with your searches. You’re welcome 😉

Vision & Personal Style

Before you go shopping, think first about how you want your session to look. Create a vision board or a story. Daydream a bit. What assets do you want to focus on?

Try on and find pieces that fit the look and feel you want for your session.

Personal Style

If you love shoes, jewelry, and lashes, make sure you incorporate that into your session planning. If you are more of a barefoot, naturale kind of woman, just keep it simple- maybe just a t-shirt and undies, slouchy sweater and knee high socks is all you need.

Do’s and Dont’s

For the best service and fit, visit a local lingerie boutique. The expert stylists will help you find the best fit for your body type! Definitely do this a few weeks before your shoot. In case you need to order anything online.

Dress for your body type –  Don’t try to mimic what someone else is wearing, be true to you!

Take care of yourself  – Mind, body and soul. Eat before your shoot, but nothing too heavy or starchy. Avoid the foods that bloat you.

Make sure you purchase the kind without the silicone liner on the inner band. It creates a funky ridge no matter what size you are, and causes “lumps” that wouldn’t otherwise be there.

Hair Ties

Remove the hair tie on your wrist. Do it now.
Seriously.. it looks terrible, especially the ligature marks it leaves. Not pretty!

Do you want to feel like 100% that bitch?

Head to Toe

Girl, get your hair done, get a fresh mani/pedi – possibly even a facial to make sure your skin is looking nice and luminous.

Spray tans sometimes show up real magneta, so be careful when selecting the company you do that with! Try to avoid a sunburn, or tan lines if possible!

If you haven’t already stopped by, go check out my Boudoir page with a sneak into the studio space, and the collections I have to offer!

Lastly, Boudoir is a luxury – it’s an investment that every woman should take into consideration. Choose your photographer wisely. It’s an intimate time, and it’s hella empowering. Make sure the right person is there to guide you during that journey. I’d love to be that person. Hit me up!
xoxo, Magan
